If you like humorous history, quirky facts, and solving mysteries, this experience in the heart of London is for you!
We will walk around some of Central London’s most famous areas and familiar landmarks. Everything is completely factual—but it’s not what you learned at school. We’re going to discuss religion, drinking, and even have a bit of 1800s brothel banter. You’ll experience the hidden sides of London that were right in front of your eyes…
We will discover the secret behind the flowing of the River Thames, the origins of Covent Garden, and try to solve the mystery of London’s last Victorian gas lamp. I’ll also provide recommendations for anything you need in London.
Highlights:
- How the Americans stole coffee from the British
- The only street in London where we drive backwards
- London’s most notorious brothel, and the extinct police force that shut it down
Whether it is your first time in London, or you’re a local who’s curious about the city’s secrets, this is a great intro to London’s alternative history!

The usual route involves a couple of staircases but can easily be adapted for guests with mobility needs. The terrain is flat with a couple of gentle downhill slopes, and we will always cross the road at a designated crossing with a dropped kerb. Half way along the route there are some public disabled toilets and we make a stop at a cafe with an accessible entrance. There are no inclines on the tour, but we will be going across Covent Garden Piazza which is largely cobblestones. If you would like more information, please get in touch with me to discuss your specific requirements.
